Filming at Sant Ffraed House
Sant Ffraed House is a Grade II-listed country estate in the Usk Valley, Monmouthshire – and inside, it has some of the most wonderful interior design of any venue we work at. The style is modern chic but minimalist, and we love how clean, bright and airy it feels. For us, that means beautiful, natural light from the moment you arrive.
Two distinct spaces
There’s the house itself, with its stylish interiors and a modern bar area. And then there’s the K Room: full-height glass windows and a panoramic view out over the lake. It’s genuinely stunning – and a room where the view does a lot of the work for us. We’ve seen it used for both the wedding breakfast and the evening party, and dancing with the lake laid out behind you is pretty special.
The staircase: confetti + group shots
The staircase on the side of the main house is a firm favourite for confetti and group photos. Its symmetrical steps mean all your guests can line up on either side, so everyone is in the shot and nobody is hidden at the back.
Gardens, fields + golden hour
Outside, there are lovely paths around the gardens, open fields next door and stunning views across the countryside – plenty of room for a relaxed stroll and some quieter portraits away from the party.
For golden hour portraits, we head down to the lawn in front of the house – or, for more adventurous couples, out into the fields next door, where the evening light really comes into its own.
What makes it special for us
Of course Sant Ffraed House looks incredible. But the best days here are the ones built around the people. At Jen + Alex’s wedding it was the humour, the chaos, their two boys stealing the show, champagne sprays and all the little in-between moments – and a venue this clean and simple lets all of that take centre stage.
Our top tip: get everyone onto the side staircase straight after the ceremony – confetti and your big group photo, done in one go.
