Filming at Clevedon Hall

Clevedon Hall is one of our favourite venues to film and photograph – and the reason is simple: choice. Few venues are blessed with so many gorgeous spaces, so every couple can put together their own combination for the ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening party.

The ceremony: a grand entrance like nowhere else

Most couples choose the Main Hall, and it’s easy to see why. The newly laid herringbone wood floor sets off the hall’s 1880s Victorian architecture beautifully – the arches, the wooden balcony and the huge stained-glass skylight directly above, which floods the room with natural light alongside the warm, candle-style light fittings that line the walls.

Then there’s the iconic wooden staircase. Making your entrance down from the balcony into your ceremony is a grand moment that’s genuinely hard to replicate anywhere else – and it looks incredible on film.

When the weather’s kind, you can marry outdoors under the gazebo, set in its own circular garden enclosure – perfect in the summer sunshine. For something more intimate, the warm, cosy Library works just as well for ceremonies as it does for wedding breakfasts.

Drinks, dinner + dancing

The huge, bright Orangery and the Library are both air-conditioned – something your guests will really appreciate in a summer heatwave.

Linking the two is the Conservatory, one of our favourite spaces in the whole house. Full of plants and flowers, with a terracotta floor and an almost exotic feel, it’s wonderful for small group photos and couple portraits – ideally before late afternoon, when the sun moves round to the other side of the house.

Our favourite photo spots

Outside, we love the lavender paths and the couples’ favourite spot: the lake and its little white wooden bridge. We prefer shooting away from the house, where the light falls more naturally, but a side-on view of the bridge is perfect for that meeting-in-the-middle romantic moment.

Golden hour + sunset

The sun sets towards the seafront, so we usually capture sunset portraits walking up the lawn from the lake. For more adventurous couples, it’s a five-minute walk down to the beach for magically romantic sunset shots with Clevedon Pier in the background.

A team that genuinely cares

What really makes Clevedon Hall special is the team behind it. Every member of staff cares about you and your guests – we regularly overhear guests and couples saying “the staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble”. That comes from real experience and training in providing the highest quality of service, and it’s a team we love working alongside. We’ve been one of Clevedon Hall’s recommended suppliers for over seven years.

Our top tip: book your Conservatory portraits before late afternoon – and save ten minutes for the beach at sunset.
